How we get paid
You pay us nothing. When you enroll in a plan through us, the insurance company pays us a commission. Your premium is the same whether you enroll through us, through another agent, or directly with the company.
Where the money comes from
- Medicare Advantage and Part D: the insurance company pays a set commission. Medicare (CMS) sets the maximum amount each year, so agents can't be paid more for steering you to a pricier plan of the same type.
- Medicare Supplements: the insurance company pays a percentage of your premium, set by each company.
- Each year you stay, we're usually paid a smaller renewal commission. That's what pays for your fall review and our help with claims and billing.

Why we tell you this
Commissions differ between plan types and companies. Any agent could be tempted to recommend whatever pays best. We'd rather you know how it works.
So on every call we show you both a Supplement option and an Advantage option, explain the trade-offs, and let you decide. If the right answer is to keep the plan you have, we'll tell you.
Independent vs captive agents
| Compare | Independent agency (us) | Captive agent |
|---|---|---|
| Plans offered | From more than 20 insurance companies | One insurance company's plans |
| Cost to you | $0 | $0 |
| If that company raises prices | We can compare other companies | Limited to the same company |
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE and Florida SHINE can tell you about all of your options.

Are you paid if I don't enroll?
